HEIF is a flexible image container. HEIC commonly refers to HEIF photos encoded with HEVC, including photos produced by Apple devices.
The converter accepts both .heic and .heif files as inputs.
This experimental encoder writes one 8-bit still image in a local browser worker. It is for compatibility and performance testing, not archival use.
Experimental output is limited to 12 MP, transparency is flattened to white, metadata is removed, and compatibility is not yet guaranteed. Source files still stay on this device.

Accepted inputs: JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, ICO, SVG, TIFF, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, and HEIF. ICO uses its largest high-depth image; TIFF uses the first page; HEIC/HEIF uses the first top-level still image. Metadata is not preserved.

The encoder runs in a dedicated browser worker and writes a single 8-bit HEVC-compressed image into a HEIC container.
Alpha, EXIF, GPS, image sequences, depth data, and auxiliary images are not preserved.
Use an image at or below 12 megapixels. Transparent pixels will become white.
The experimental codec loads only after conversion starts and keeps heavy work off the page thread.
Open the result in Apple Photos or Preview and keep the original source file.
